The Chinese New Year has started in earnest across China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia among others. Australia’s Sydney Opera House was swathed in red light as part of the lantern display to welcome in the New Year.
2016 is represented by the Monkey, the 9th animal in the Chinese zodiac. Each year is also represented by one of the elements – and this year, it’s Fire. This element + sign combination won’t appear again for another 60 years!
The Fire aspect doesn’t reflect anything scary, in fact quite the opposite – it depicts increased focus and significantly more attention on specific goals. It also brings creativity, happiness and passion.
Monkeys have a lot of self-confidence, and can apply themselves well to any job that will make them a success. However, they can be spontaneous with their finances, not necessarily looking at the long term picture.
2016 will be most beneficial for the Monkey, Rat and Dragon, with opportunities abound. As long as they work hard and plan well, success is within reach. You have momentum, and others will recognise this and help you.

... Pig and Rabbit are encouraged to expand their horizons, and take stock of their current lives – the rewards are there if only you have the courage and enthusiasm to do so. The New Moon in October encourages them to be open in their affections
Tiger, Dog and Horse will be frustrated by events not moving as quickly as they would like. If they take a leaf out of Monkey’s book, they’ll understand they need to regroup and power forward with their learning, to take advantage of the lull.
Ox, Rooster and Snake may try to have the wool pulled over their eyes. This will be a testing year, so stay true to yourself and demand the real truth. Failure to do so can cause unwanted and unnecessary problems.
This Fire Monkey year gives the opportunity of following through with your convictions. If you do so, it will help better prepare you for the feisty Fire Rooster in 2017!
