There are many great villas in Spain, especially on the eastern coast. Among them my favorite is situated barely 60 kilometers outside of Barcelona and is about a six-hour drive northeast from the Costa Blanca, close to the center of the Costa Brava.

Costa Brava which is also known as the wild coast is situated in Catalonia's north-eastern part and it stretches along the French border right up to Barcelona. Suitable for all ages Costa Brava contains a variety of coastal scenery, abundant beaches, family excitement and remarkable fascinating places.

If you are planning to spend your vacation in Costa Brava, these 16 places are most happening and worth visiting:

1) De L'Emporda National Park
One of the prime national parks in the whole Northern Spain De L'Emporda National Park is known for its several species of birds.

2) Castell de Pubol
The residence of Dali's wife, Castell de Pubol is among the popular Spanish arts of the twentieth century.

This isn't a Kevin Costner movie, but one of Europe's biggest family water parks, which includes a 250-metre long rubber ...

4) Lloret de Mar Beach
Lloret de Mar Beach is always rewarded the Blue Flag for maintaining cleanliness, is the major white sand beach which stretches along 1630 meters.

5) Santa Clotilde Gardens
These Italian Renaissance style gardens made by Nicolau Rubio i Tuduri are located on top of a rockface overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

6) Modernist Cemetery
Designed at the end of the nineteenth century the Modernist Cemetery provides an amazing look into funerary art of the time.

7) The Municipal Museum
The museum includes the work of architects who visited the spot in the 1930s.

8) Bar Europa
Bar Europa is a friendly no frills type of bar, with the cheapest beer in Tossa .

9) Sant Antoni de Calonge
Sant Antoni de Calonge is a small village of 8.200 residents, which includes the village of Calonge and the coastal centre of St. Antoni. The Medieval Tower is an Baroque style church of the 18th century and a few amazing and fresh beaches, are worth visiting.

10) The Ruins of Empuries
Empuries were founded in 575 BC by Greek colonists and was afterwards taken by the Romans. In the Early Middle Ages the town was abandoned and the ruins are still there just between the Costa Brava town of L'Escala and the village of Sant Marti.

11) Castell de Sant Joan
Castell de Sant Joan is a medieval citadel built in 11th century. You will be thrilled to see the attractive surrounding that can be viewed from the castle's tower which is the only remain present there today.

12) Can Comadran
Can Comadran, also known as Casa Font, is a huge hall which was constructed in 1877 in the Modernist manner.

13) Parish Church of Sant Roma
The Parish Church of Sant Roma is a gothic church that was built 1522 and in the early 20th century it was converted into a spectacular building with Byzantine, Muslim, Renaissance and Modernist influences

14) Puig de Castellet Iberian Settlement
This walled decision, was taken amid 250-210 BC, is located on the north-west part of a mountain with an amazing sight of the whole coastline, yet it is absolutely unseen from the sea.

15) Santa Cristina Hermitage
Santa Cristina Hermitage dates back in the year 1376 is worth watching. Yet the current temple was designed at the completion of the 18th century and is in the neo-classical manner.

16) Marimurtra Botanical Gardens
You will be excited to see a spectacular view of Marimurtra Botanical Gardens on the southern heights of Costa Brava. An exclusive characteristic of the gardens is the two week flowering and leaf color varying cycle, that makes each trip a fresh experience.
