Top 5 Kids Recipes for Indians that Aid a Healthy Brain in Your Child

If you thought you were busy, think again! Your child’s brain is busy developing connections between neurons at an unimaginable pace. One of the most important factors that contributes to healthy brain development is nutrition. As a parent, you can help the process of brain development by ensuring that your child’s meal includes smart nutrients and antioxidants. Here are some fun kids recipes that may discourage your young one from junk food and soft drinks.
Healthy Eating for Your Child
Healthy does not need to be synonymous with boring! Here are some interesting kids recipes that will help your child become smarter and healthier:
1. Chapati Roll: The humble chapati made from kneaded wheat flour is a staple food in most Indian homes.
Use healthy green vegetables like beans, boiled cabbage and capsicum along with carrot slices and corn to be used as filling inside the roll. You may want to cook or fry the vegetables with onions, use some flavoring like oregano and use coriander for seasoning. Add some mayonnaise or sauce ...
... and your chapati roll is ready to be served.
Cabbage contains folate, fibre and vitamins essential for growing children, while capsicum has iron and antioxidants.
2. Fruity Delight: Yogurt filled with pieces of fruit like apples or plums which are rich in antioxidants serves as a great snack or dessert after lunch.
Curd itself is a rich source of vitamin B and protein, which aid brain function and tissue growth. Fruits are a rich source of antioxidants, vitamins C and K and fibre.
3. Nuts and Seeds: To any recipe you feed your child, make sure to add walnuts, almonds and even flax seeds or chia seeds.
Nuts can be mixed with milk, dalia or rice. Flax seeds and chia seeds can be mixed in a vegetable preparation.
Apart from protein, nuts contain essential fatty acids required to boost your child's nervous system and help him or her perform better cognitive functions.
4. Oatmeal and Corn in Kid's Recipes: Oatmeal is simply ground grain of oat. Corn is obtained from maize and is known to provide many B complex vitamins like B1, B5 and folic acid and has very high protein content.
Sweet corn is often eaten after being roasted or boiled and peppered with white salt or black salt.
Both oatmeal and corn can be used in salads with sauce or cream, in porridges or other vegetable fillings in chapati rolls or served with cooked rice.
These are also included in a good nutritional supplement for brain development.
5. Fish is often recommended as the best food for brain development in children. Salmon, sardines or tuna are excellent sources of Vitamin D and Omega 3 fatty acids. Not only do they boost memory and retention, they also improve immunity among children.
Fish ought to be served at least 2 or 3 times a week in your child's diet.
Fish can be cooked by boiling and then frying with flour, used in curries or pickles and served along with rice.
When all of the Reference Daily Intake of micro nutrients cannot be met through diet because of food habits or fussy behaviour, you could consider adding nutritional milk powder like Enfagrow A+, which not only builds immunity and boosts overall health, while assisting brain development.
