It is important that when you start a business on the Internet that the theme is kept tight. This means that the business idea and plan that you have created needs to stick to the subject matter and not veer off the path. Many webmasters get way to greedy and try to turn their sites into something it is not in an attempt to make more money. This takes the attention away from the main theme of the site and turns visitors off. It also will affect the search engine rankings because the site will become too broad.

A web site business on the Internet should keep a goal of becoming an authority site on the theme it represents, this is what the search engines want and also what visitors like. By trying to accomplish to broad of an area with a web site it will confuse the visitors and also the search engines. Search engines will reward a web site which stays with a tight niche because all the keywords and content stay relevant to the theme.

It is best if a webmaster wanted to veer off into another direction to then create another web site entirely for that theme and project. For example, let's say that an individual ...
... has a web site about classical acoustic guitar, this is a nice tight niche. It will attract many visitors who are interested in the subject and the search engines will see that the site has full attention focused due to the content and keywords. The search engines will in turn rank all the pages well for classic acoustic guitar and the variations such as classical acoustic guitar lessons and classical acoustic guitars for sale.

Once the webmaster tries to broaden the theme into say electric rock guitar and fold acoustic guitar the site then loses the authority within the tight niche business concept it was originally based on. The confusion to visitors will cause them to think about the credibility of the webmaster and the search engines will be fluttered on the overall theme and concept of the site.

By creating an individual web site for each niche theme business on the Internet each site will have the ability to stand on its own as a leading resource of value on everyone area of expertise. This helps get more targeted traffic and also help keep these visitors satisfied, increasing conversion rates and sales along the way. The search engines will reward the site with an "authority" value which will help get better rankings much easier because of the clear and precise focus of the site and the keywords as well as the content.

When starting a business on the Internet it is best to keep a tight niche theme idea but assuring that the niche has enough room to grow and create income over time. It is important to look into the future with any web site business and make sure it is broad enough to expand over time, but always making sure that the niche idea stays on the topic and within the subject matter it was originally intended to do.
