How To Keep Your New Year Resolutions And Achieve Your Goals

Another year has flown by and here we are at the start of a new one. And the New Year is a great time to reflect on and evaluate your life and make those precious new year resolutions, and set goals for the New Year.
Of course, sometimes these resolutions are the exact same ones as last year.
The most popular New Year Resolutions are focused on:
1. Losing weight, getting fit and exercising more
2. Saving money or making more of it
3. Spending more quality time with the family
4. Getting a better job
5. Stressing less, getting more sleep and relaxing more
6. Achieving life balance and being happy
To make a resolution is to decide firmly or to have great determination to accomplish something. But despite this, most people are lucky if their resolution is kept until the end of January. It's no wonder many people find themselves making the exact same resolutions the following year.
So how can you be successful in sticking to a resolution and successfully achieving your goals?
Firstly, only work on one goal at a time. Goals or resolutions involve change and ...
... it can be difficult to make this change if you can't really focus on it. Once you've successfully made your first change in behavior or life style pattern required to achieve your first goal and you feel confident that the change will stick, you can work on the next change required. So only do one thing at a time, to ensure your changes stick.
Secondly, you must make a plan, which is your instruction manual of how you are going to achieve your resolution. Think about your goal, write it down on a sheet of paper and put it where you will see it everyday. Set a start date, a due date and develop a set of tasks or instructions that you need to complete in order to accomplish your goal. Break it down into manageable pieces and tackle it one step at a time.
Thirdly, be prepared for those obstacles that will invariably come up. Think about what obstacles may arise and a plan to manage each one. If you slip up-don't let this make you completely give up. See it as one step back among all the steps forward you have taken, learn from it and move on. Remember to reward yourself for every step forward you take, as this will keep you in action and motivated.
And finally, get support. It's much easier to stay motivated if you feel supported and accountable to someone else.
So make your new year resolutions count for 2010, and make it the best year ever.
