How To Stick To Your New Year Resolutions - 10 Tips

It's nearly that time of year again for making and breaking your New Year's resolutions. But so many people fail to keep their new year resolutions simply because they can't get organized.
Here are some tips to help you get organized to reach your resolutions in 2010.
1. Get a calendar.
A calendar or diary is the most essential tool for getting organized. Find one that works for you, whether it be paper or electronic, and start the year with one in hand. As well as having a master calendar or diary, use post-it notes or daily to-do lists to help you stick to your goals by reminding you to do your daily goal setting activities.
2. Prepare a yearly plan.
Prepare a yearly plan to give you an overview of key dates and milestones such as holidays, birthdays, anniversaries and so on. Also allocate blocks of time for spending with family and friends. Planning your year in this manner allows you to book travel well in advance, which will save money and ensure your commitment to your plan.
3. Budget.

4. De-clutter.
We all accumulate stuff over the years that just ends up cluttering our lives, so take the time to go through your possessions and only keep those things that you know are useful, think are beautiful, or have sentimental value. Give everything else away to charity or to someone who will appreciate them.
5. Get on top of your files
Establish an effective filing system at home and at work. File information according to how you will use it, not where it came from. Always keep a notepad or sticky notes handy, and jot down key words for filing papers as you accumulate them. This will save time later.
6. Keep like with like
To minimize the stress of daily family life, and make it easier to put things away when company is coming, put all like things together in a box, and label them clearly. Store items according to where and how often you will use them.
7. Get fit
Identify a specific goal for getting or keeping in shape. Even 10 minutes a day or a 30 minute session three times a week is enough to get started. Share your commitment with someone else that also wants to exercise more.
8. Get healthy
Take steps to make it easier to eat a healthy diet. Keep a shopping list of healthy food, and make sure there is always good food easily available. Whenever possible, go to restaurants that specialize in healthy food, or at least try to select the healthier options from the menu.
9. Volunteer
Make a commitment to volunteer your services to an organization that makes other people's lives better. One hour a week or one day a month won't take a lot of time out of your life, but can make a big difference to someone else. Make it a family activity.
10. Be kind to yourself
Don't expect perfection from yourself in keeping your New Year resolutions. Remember you are in this for the long run.
