Classroom learning is regarded as the mainstream education as it involves a traditional academic set up. However, for learners, education is also beyond classroom. Many students emphasize on self-study at home following up classroom education. Students seek to learn even after classroom classes are over and even if classes are executed perfectly. This brings forth the need of additional support for children from the community beyond their school and classroom. Most of the times, parents and guardians occupies this position at home. But for busy parents offering this support is not easy and hence the requirement of afterschool program becomes imperative for them.

Academic learning prioritizes books as well as reading and writing skills. Their contribution to the child’s development is massive, but they are not adequate when it comes to life skill education and living. They cannot proffer social and emotional skills, which are fundamental to personal development in children. On the other hand, a child must have practical experience of what is learned from books. This is not possible without involving them in co curricular ...

After-school classes offer a great opportunity to students who are not academically oriented. These setups can provide students an alternative option to excel in their particular field. By focusing on non-academic activities, these children can gain skills of other field and gain experience of various competencies. Another advantage of afterschool learning is personalized education. Although personalized learning is practiced at the best schools in India, at others it is not possible to focus on each student and lay emphasis individually. A classroom is a collective body and here the teaching standard follows a common pattern that is amicable for average of students. In contrast, afterschool classes can offer one on one instruction and personalized help. This can be a great help even for fast learners as they can excel better on their subjects of interests.

The free time of students after formal class can be absorbed at afterschool. These helps to prevent children from being astray and passing time with unnecessary or harmful activities. Teenagers might get involved in malicious activities such as drugs and violence after school hours. In this context, afterschool class can offer them better options to keep them engaged.

Non-academic skills for students are as important as academic skills. Subject such as trade and business, soft skills and technology use can be learned at afterschool classes apart from academics. This is helpful for overall education, development and confidence building of children.
