Fishing holidays are gaining popularity these days and one of the most prominent one is the Iceland salmon fishing. There are many reasons for which one would love to visit this place apart from fishing. The clear waters give you a better catch and also aids at sight fishing which is a thrilling experience.

Iceland has become a major fishing spot especially for the Norwegian salmons. The clear waters keep it all visible and the water runs through the meadows making it even more beautiful during the midsummer timings. The best season to enjoy angling Iceland would be from July to September. There are several packages from different companies which you can choose depending on how you want the entire holiday to be.

For many people, Iceland is a wet, cold and windy country as the name suggests which is not true!

During the recent years, due to weather changed summers are not mild anymore in Iceland therefore salmon fishing has become a tough job as the water levels become low. Due to this reason the temperature rises above normal levels and the salmons move in ...
... search of cooler temperature and more oxygen. Therefore, we have to act smart by fishing in places where there is no direct sunlight.

A better idea is to go out for fishing when the sky is really clouded and it is midsummer time. During this time the chances to hook an Icelandic salmon is much higher. Two best times of the day for salmon angling Iceland are during the dusk and dawn wherein the latter is the most suitable during the summer weather. The reason behind this is that the water tends to remain undisturbed for quite a long time then. Yet another tip for easy catch is to go fishing to those places were fishermen have not visited quite often to increase your catch.

When it comes to picking the tackle, it is always advisable to choose light weight ones due to the lower water levels and to not disturb the entire pool. Glasses and wading jackets are a must while fishing in Iceland as you can never predict how the weather can turn out to be. Hence, safety and health must be considered first and necessary precautions must be taken before you plan your fishing.

Fishing holidays in Iceland are quite common these days but before setting out, it is good to learn more about the tactics and the essence of fishing in these parts to be on the safer side.
