This is the reason why more and more girls and even boys are turning towards spray tanning. As the case is with every other commodity in the world, this method of tanning also has its pros and cons. Let us discuss them in detail:
Pros
• Decreased risk of skin cancer: Baking in the sun for long durations to get a tan also comes with an added risk of developing skin cancer because of prolonged exposure to the ultraviolet rays of the sun. Spray on tan doesn’t require the sun to give you the beautiful dark skin and as a result the risk of skin cancer due to UV exposure gets reduced.
• Time saving: Getting tanned via normal means can take weeks. On the other hand, getting a spray on tan in a tanning salon is instant. It requires no baking in the sun for long hours and no waiting for your sticky tanning lotion to dry.
• Control: With spray tanning, you have complete control over how dark you want to look. You can choose a shade and get the exact shade of tan on your skin.
• Retaining youthfulness of the skin: When you lie in sun for long hourstogettan, the skin loses its youthfulness due ...
... to extreme exposure. With spray on tan that is not the case and the skin retains its youthfulness.
Cons
Spray tanners contain an active ingredient that is known as dihydroxyacetone (commonly known as DHA). This is the one and only negative effect of Spray tanning. Recent studies have shown that DHA is also a cause of cancer if it gets introduced to blood stream. Although, you can hold your breath during spray tanning but for how long? Eventually, you’ll have to breathe in and that’s how DHA can make its way into your blood stream.
One thing to note is that the studies which have found this conclusion have not been performed on human subjects, but the results are still enough to make you stop and think for a moment before getting in the tanning booth.
Conclusion
In conclusion, we’ll just say that spray on tan is fine if you take the correct precautions. UTanoffers protective goggles, protective mouth gear, nose plugs and everything you need to avoid the harmful DHA entering your blood stream. Apart from keeping you safe, we also offer state of the art tanning services.
