B-SAFETY, the leading German manufacturer for emergency showers and eye showers, is expanding its product portfolio for safety showers. With the new ComfortLine laboratory safety showers first-aid supply is possible with temperature-controlled water.
The supply of Safety Showers and eyewash stations with warm water is crucial. In accordance with DIN EN 15154-1:2006 and DIN EN 15154-2:2006 a shower or flush period of at least 15 minutes is required to remove the contaminants to the largest extent possible.

In fact, a shower or flush period of up to 60 minutes may become necessary in respect of extremely aggressive chemicals that penetrate deeply into the skin. The extended exposure of the skin to cold water (below 15° C) can result in hypothermia. Please note that any water temperature below 32° C will result in a constant drop of body temperature. A particularly critical issue is the fact that water withdraws heat from the body 25 times faster than air. A human body can suffer from hypothermia within a matter of only a few minutes - the situation becomes critical if the ...

drops below 32° C!

Temperatures of more than 37°C have proven to be harmful to eyes and can intensify chemical reactions in the eye or on the skin.

Medical recommendations state a tepid temperature - between 15 and 37° C - as ideal for the treatment of tissues affected by chemical agents. Both DIN EN 15154-1:2006 and DIN EN 15154-2:2006 therefore recommend the supply of
safety showers and eyewash stations with temperate water between 15 and 37° C.

The ComfortLine Safety Showers are provided with tepid water over the thermostatic mixing valves connected upstream of the eye showers. For the water supply of the ComfortLine safety showers is a warm and cold water supply required.
