B-SAFETY, the leading German manufacturer for emergency showers and eye showers, is expanding its product portfolio for eye showers. The new ComfortLine Eye Showers make eye rinsing with temperature-controlled water possible.
The supply of eyewash stations with warm water is crucial. In accordance with DIN EN 15154-2:2006 an eyewash or flush period of at least 15 minutes is required to remove the contaminants to the largest extent possible. Cold water temperatures provide immediate cooling after burns or chemical contact. The prolonged exposure of the eyes to cold water however can result in the premature cessation of first aid treatment. Temperatures of more than 37°C have proven to be harmful to eyes and can intensify chemical reactions in the eye or on the skin.

Medical recommendations state a tepid temperature - between 15 and 37°C - as ideal for the treatment of tissues affected by chemical agents. The DIN EN 15154-2:2006 therefore recommend the supply of eyewash stations with temperate water beween 15 and 37°C.
