Learning And Educational Practices In Classroom
Education becomes a complicated concept because of the fact that there exist different types of learning. Learning is a complex process that is comprehensive and is comprised of diversified traits and unique theories. The theories of learning that are developed so far are not adequate to explain the process of education completely. The theoretical concepts of learning cannot determine the practical effects that are more aligned with education. On the other hand, the classroom concept of learning is a juxtaposition of several types of learning traits that combines to form the education system followed by the institution. Each type of learning has its unique importance to the working of a classroom.
Learning is seen as a holistic process that is both within the classroom and outside it. There are several types of learning and it is not easy to determine and categorize them completely. However, determining the different types of learning is not too difficult as they are with unique features. Self-learning through practical experience, learning through a particular situation, learning by understanding a concept, learning by ...
... watching others and learning by understanding others perspectives are some common forms of learning. These traits are observed both within and outside the classroom. For a child, learning at an environment that supports education and academic growth is the best. This can be achieved at home and at school. Residential schools in India have been providing extensive facilities to support learning.
The evaluation of learning theory is done from the perspective of the student. What a person is learning is important to find out the success of learning. Another way is to determine the evidences that the learning has occurred. The difficulty in classroom teaching is that students may not follow the type of learning a teacher prefers in classroom. A classroom is a collection of students who are from different background and with different mindsets. For instance, to teach history, a teacher might prefer storytelling and the chorological order of events followed by a quiz. However, students might follow a direct approach of emphasizing on the dates and particular events and then a storytelling to relate the events. The method of evaluation also might be effective for some and for others the teacher might have to follow other practices.
Students can be engaged in learning by involving them is different activities. Classroom learning is an amalgamation of several factors. The theories of learning are important for teachers to find out the best practice of teaching. The instruction that teachers offer and the pedagogy they follow must coincide with the learning theories.
