Whenever you use Google search, you will see two types of results. One, organic, which are in the center of the screen. And others are inorganic or advertisements which appear on the right hand side or the top of the screen. Google AdWords is the tool used for placing these advertisements.

How does Google AdWords work?
In simple terms, Google AdWords works on a bidding basis where people place bids on keywords. Position of ads on Google are based on two parameters: bids and quality score of ads.

For example, if you are in the business of selling apparel, you will be placing bids on apparel related keywords. However, you will not be the only one bidding on those keywords. Chances are your competition will also bid on the same keywords. Based on bids and the quality scores of the two bidders, Google will determine the position of ads.

In Google AdWords, you only pay if someone clicks on your advertisement, which again ensures better return on investment. Also, you can start off with very small budgets.

These ads are shown whenever anyone searches for your keyword, across Google’s entire search network, which includes Google search, shopping, Google Maps, Google Play, etc.

Display Network:
Apart from its own network, Google allows other websites to become a part of its display network. These websites let out empty spaces on their webpages to Google. In turn, Google makes these spaces available for bidding.
