Stereotypical Christmas Gifts

No one can help but get excited about the prospect of receiving amazing Christmas gifts. Come Christmas morn, you leap out of your bed like an 8 year old to the inevitable anti climax of socks, chocolates and smellies. Yes, that mountain bike shaped present you have been eyeing up all week turns out to be a pack of 10 sports socks and a questionable aftershave whilst that exciting little diamond ring box in your stocking turns out to hold potpourri essence. Brilliant.

There are people that like to play it safe with the notion that 'Everyone wears sockseveryone likes a bit of chocolatewho doesn't like wearing a splash of Old Spice whilst out courting?' The recipient on the other hand thinks more on the lines of 'I can buy my own socks thank you very muchChocolate? Yeah that's originalOld what?!'

Findmeagift.com has some great alternatives to stereotypical Christmas gifts that will help you play safe, but in a more original way. Take socks for example - Not the most exciting present in the world ...
... however practical they may be. For girls, why not swap them for Hot Sox? These cosy slipper boots have strawberry and vanilla wheat bags inside that can be microwaved warm. For men try the No Smell Socks which are antibacterial and can stop sweaty feet from smelling! If you are more inclined to buy chocolates, check out their Chocolate Calculator or Chocolate Pizzas, which actually come in pizza boxes. Pre cut into slices, they are made from scrumptious milk chocolate with various naughty toppings. As an alternative to chocolate, why not treat someone to a Retro Sweets Hamper? This wicker hamper is chock-full of 80's themed sweets from Refreshers to Dib Dabs.

Other Christmas presents that can make the blood boil is the inevitable gift voucher. Not as flexible as cash and not as thoughtful as a present, these vouchers are usually worthless unless you need to stock up on posh shampoo or the latest Z List celebrity biography. Instead of these uneventful pieces of paper, why not buy someone an activity voucher? From paint balling experiences for two to pampering days, photo shoots to football stadium tours, why not put a little extra effort into a voucher? If your grandson loves Manchester United, why do you immediately seem to think "Oh, he'll love a Boots gifts voucher." Why not treat him to a tour of Old Trafford!

Lastly, the 90's phenomenon of having potpourri in a bowl. This dust gathering, Bombay mix resembling bowl of dead plant was all the rage 20 years ago. So why do relations force it upon us every Christmas as if it is the latest craze? Do we give them Shake and Vac because it was the potpourri of the 80's? No. Treat someone to some scented candles instead. Findmeagift.com do a great selection of unique candles ranging from Chocolate Scented Candle tea lights to a Rose Scented Candle in a beautiful presentation box. There are Cactus Candles in a wooden crate, Passion and Aphrodisiac Candles and even a Wicked Wax Massage Candle that transforms in to massage oil when lit! Now you can't pour potpourri over someone and have as much fun can you!

So spare a thought to those who still receive these stereotypical Christmas gifts and stocking fillers and put a little more effort into it this year. Or you may just find yourself the recipient of a lump of coal and a Christmas E-Card.
