Planning A Wedding - Have Your Wedding Cake And Eat It!-00-4593

There are ways to make it enjoyable and fun, it's just about knowing how to tackle the process. And by tackle I mean wrestle, hold, push and kick all of the obstacles that will get in your way, from Granny refusing to sit next to Aunty Nora to finally finding that perfect dress and then finding out that it costs more than your mortgage!
The first thing that you have to do is work out a budget and the second thing to do is stick to it. Take the time to work out your monthly incomings, outgoings and spare cash. Once you have a wedding date planned you can add up all of the spare cash that you can save until then, and voila! A budget! Then make a list of every aspect of the wedding and set aside an amount for each part. The next step is to decide how many people are invited as without numbers it is impossible to organise invitations, a venue or seating plans, so get scribbling with your list before moving onto the next part. Possibly the most important and most testing part of the planning is finding a venue!
Firstly, decide if you want to get married in your area or elsewhere, then think about whether you want a ...
... church or registry office. The internet is home to a whole host of ideas that you can use. Talk to friends and family for suggestions or look in a local guide book for halls that are commonly used for weddings. Once the venue is booked, it is time to send the invitations, which can be handmade specifically for your wedding or purchased in a card shop.
So, you have a date, a venue and the invitations are sent, - now comes the hunt for the dress! Your dress, the bridesmaid's dresses, the flower girl, the page boy..the list goes on! Find one company that can provide all of the outfits for the sake of ease. Depending on your budget you can use an online shop or a specialised bridal shop - some choose to use a high street shop.
From here the food and drink is next, and this will largely be decided by personal preference and budget. If you want a sit down meal you have to make sure the reception venue is capable of holding it, and if not, a buffet-style meal may work better. Meals can be as fancy or as simple as you choose, as can the cake and flowers. It is important to remember that if it doesn't work in the budget then go for something simpler.
Last but not least, the dreaded seating plan! Working out who likes who, who will work well with who, and how to fit them all in is tricky. It is advisable to enlist the help of a friend or a family member who knows everyone to help you. Maybe a family member can make the cake or arrange the flowers. The meal needn't consist of six courses if it is not affordable. It is your wedding; possibly the one day in your life when you won't be judged or criticised!
