The process involves manufacturing a long column of sapphire in a Verneuil furnace by sprinkling micronized aluminum oxide through oxy-hydrogen flame burning at 2000+ degrees Celsius, which after passing through, fall below their melting point (i.e. the temperature of the flame) and fuse to crystallize in a column, on which, more crystals to form on top of it as it’s moved away from the flame vertically. Every manufacturer has its own specifications on putting to use the components, but at the end, they are sliced with diamond-tipped cutters and given the polish. A watch crystal is formed.
