It seems to help for some websites but there are lots of sites that can get listed above them without the keyword phrase present at all. So it can't be that important. There most be more to it than that.

Search Engines still recognize your meta tags title and descriptions. Or you can let the search engines figure out what to pull up. As for me I choose the meta tags because it seems to work better. For those who do not then be sure to put what you want to be on page one on in the first paragraph of content to make it easy for the bots to learn what your website is about.

And Let's not forget about all those dirty tricks for website SEO some site owners try to slip pass us. You know things like placing a site with really small text loaded with keyword phrases or stuffing lots of keyword phrases in the alt in pictures. Those things succeed for a short while and then you get sent to like page 600 or worse. There is no way I would advice using these scams.

It looks like exciting new text with backlinks from reliable websites are still the only way to do it. Updating your website occasionally will keep the search bots coming back for more. Backlinks will let them know how popular your site is. But your backlinks should come from different kind of websites that are related to yours. Make sure to spread it around with sound backlinks from directories, blogs, websites, videos and so on. There are other things that can be done but these are best optimization tactics around the web.

I could keep going on for days about what people think they understand about optimizating a website but I should not need to. Just search for what gets you to the top and when it is works then follow the plan for all of your websites and pages. With a little trial and error you could see your website on page one in a matter of weeks
