Industry workers across Britain with approved electrical or plumbing qualifications may have benefited greatly as a result of the 2012 Olympic Games construction process, according to a new document released by the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA).

With so much to be done throughout the big build, 1,500 companies from all over the country have won contracts and gained a large amount of regular work for their employees, potentially including many tradespersons who have completed plumbing and electrical courses.

Tessa Jowell, Olympics minister commented on the extent of the employment that the Olympics has supplied for businesses.

"From Inverness to Taunton and Belfast to Bridgend, London 2012 is helping to keep order books busy, proving that these really are the UK's Games," she said.

It was recently announced in the Jobs, Skills, Futures update that more than 7,000 workers were involved in the construction process of the Olympic Park and Olympic Village.
