With attractive fabric or leather hoods, a footstool is a great household furniture. From, giving a good cushioning effect to your legs, till being the play partner of your kids, a foot resting stool though small in its look, has plenty of uses. A nice and elegant stool adds luster and style in the home furnishing. Despite being an useful furniture, a footstool is the one that gets worn out easily. Sometimes the fabric gets torn or sometimes the legs fall apart. Here are some quick and useful tips that will increase the lifetime of your stool:

Choose proper fabric

Selection of a fabric to cover the top of the footstool is the first step in care taking. The material must look stylish and at the same time should be sturdy. Wool, leather, cotton linen, chenille velvet etc are plenty of choices. Many prefer to go for leather footstool as the material is soft and hard wearing which is ideal for a home with small children or pets. It does get scratched but doesn’t cut easily. There are plenty of designers who even use fabric of your choice and design you an indigenous stool.

Add a comforter for the leg-piece

Many ...
... a times, children use the furniture as their play mates by keeping all their toys on board. They will push, shove and do whatever to the stool. The screechy sound one gets when it is pushed is bad for its legs. Add some comforters at the bottom so that neither the furniture nor the floor is damaged.

No standing

Some people may use it as a mini working stool. They climb on it to dust fans, to pick up something from lofts etc. A footstool is designed exclusively to bear less weight and hence the head may buckle or the legs may break. So, next time if your maid or child pulls it up to stand on it all you say is a big NO.

No Dragging

Do not drag your foot resting stool. This may weaken the legs on a longer run. Instead, lift it where ever you wish to place it. You can add roller wheels on one end so that you can elevate on one side and push it through.

Keep it away from pets

Do you love to keep pets at home? A beautiful kitten or a faithful dog is definitely an ideal choice to have a companion but at the same time, have you seen how much these pets love your footstool more than you? Cats love to scratch the fabric of the stool and dogs may even give it a love bite. Hence, it is suggested to keep it out of your pet’s reach for its long and effective life.

A leather footstool designed exclusively to match your sofa set will increase the beauty of the home decor. Maintaining the beauty of this furniture piece intact for years is indeed a strenuous job. Keep them safe and retain their beauty. Also, choose these furniture only from reliable suppliers to assure their quality and durability.
