Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has launched the diesel variant of its premium hatchback i20 in India. To gain the direct benefit of govenment's excise cut duty, Hyundai i20 diesel version has been launched under 1.4L only. The exact engine capacity of i20 diesel is 1396cc that generates 90PS of power at 4000 RPM. Along with launching the diesel version of i20, company has also launched the car in 1.4L Gamma petrol variant with automatic transmission. The Automatic Hyundai i20 1.4L Petrol delivers 100PS of power at 5200 RPM. SO in automatic petrol segment, this is one of the powerful super hatch in India.

Likewise the petrol version, the company has launched i20 diesel in three variants: Magna, Asta and Asta(O. The diesel engine is DOHC type and produces a torque of 22.4 as compared to 11.4 of 1.2L petrol version. The torque produce by Hyundai i20 Petrol 1.4 Gamma with automatic transmission is 13.9. The automatic petrol version comes in Asta and Asta(o)roof only.

The i20 Gamma Automatic has only 4-speed transmission in comparison to the 5-speed transmission of earlier petrol model and newly launched diesel models. However automatic transmission differs largely from the manual transmission of other two versions and there is no need felt for introducing the fifth lever for the car.

Hyundai i20 diesel and petrol automatic versions launched in India have been priced. The price of i20 Magna diesel with ABS is approximately Rs 6.20 lacs. Hyundai i20 diesel Asta model is priced at Rs 6.83 lacs and the price of Asta (O) with sunroof is Rs 7.20 lacs. Similarly the prices of i20 1.4 Gamma automatic are Rs 7.3 lacs for Asta and Rs 7.72 lacs for Asta (o) with Sunroof. Please note down that these are ex-showroom prices for New Delhi. The prices varies from city to city and state to state. And there may be additional taxes in your state/ city over the price of the car.
