Olbia - The Ancient Town Of Sardinia

Olbia, with over 54.000 inhabitants, is the capital of Gallura, a large region of north-east of Sardinia. The dialect is the Gallurese, an essentially Corsican dialect. Olbia, according to a local legend, is a very ancient town founded by the Greeks. The name "Olbia" means a "happy town" (Italian = citta' felice) even though the city's past has been rather difficult. The town of Olbia lies in a natural gulf delimited by the splendid islands of Tavolara and Molara.
