Wedding Photography In Korea

Photography has been one of the most interesting and alluring parts of art. Ever since it was invented in the 1820s, it has held a special place among artists and art lovers all over the world.
Photography, like many other professions in life, has had its evolution over the decades. When it first started, it was news and documentary photography that held most respect. Wedding photography did not, even though wedding photography is nearly as old as photography itself. In other words, wedding photography started shortly after photography itself was invented.
Korea wedding photography has had a similar transition and transformation over the decades. As a deeply traditional country, a couple’s wedding usually included going to a Korean wedding photo studio where they could take solo pictures or perhaps include other members of the family.
But today’s Korea is not the same as decades ago. When North and South Korea –normally referred to as just “Korea” – ended their hostilities in the 1950-1960 period, both countries were massively damaged. Much of both countries laid in ruin. The infrastructure ...
... was devastated and the economy was in shambles.
But Korea embarked on one of the most remarkable reconstruction efforts any country has seen. So much so that the Economist magazine ran a cover story in 2011 with the headline: “What do you do when you reach the top?”
As the Korean society advanced with time, the nature of Korea pre wedding photoshoot also changed.
Today, Korea is perhaps the richest and most developed Asian country and on top of the list of the states in the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development. The American research company Gallup not long ago published the list of median per capita and household income for various countries in 2013. South Korea ranked 8th in household income, with families showing median income of just under $41,000. When it came to per capita income, South Korea ranked 15th with $11,350.
With those changes have come developments in the Korean traditions, including the wedding business. Today, many couples hold their ceremonies in large and luxurious wedding halls or chain hotels which offer Korean wedding packages. Those packages are often very costly and can cost upward of $100,000. But with the price tag comes anything a couple would need, from the actual ceremony and music, to drinks and food catering, and of course first-class photography that could document the entire event.
