Every wedding has its own personality. Every bride is beautiful and every groom handsome. Bridal parties bring friendship and joy and help create the sense of celebration that permeates the wedding ceremony and reception.

The photographer's role is to capture all the beauty, glamor and the festive celebrations that will make your wedding the quintessential life experience it is. Once captured, today's wedding photographers should organize your wedding photography in a powerfully composed series of traditional presentations along with DVDs, and Internet photographs that will make all participants want to continue your bridal celebration as well as provide the bride and groom with lasting memories.

Your wedding photographs are important work. You want a photographer that understands you, your expectations, your budget and your dreams. You also want a photographer who understands the sometimes confusing and unexpected occurrences that seem to accompany every wedding.

Communicate

The success of most wedding photography is often determined by the communication between the bride, the groom and the photographer. ...
... The photographer's ability to understand your wishes, how your ceremony and celebration will unfold and what you want to remember on your 50th wedding anniversary will impact the success of the photography.

To establish a clear understanding of the day's events, the bride and groom should spend time with the photographer explaining their vision and the ceremony. Regardless of experience, the photographer who simply shows up to shoot wedding photos will produce disappointing results.

The photographer who visits with the bride and groom at the church, the home or at the reception site will understand the ceremony better, will understand the couple's wishes and will produce better results.

Just as being in the moment at the right time and at the right place is important, so is the photographer's ability to put the couple at ease in front of the camera. Your wedding is no time for stage fright. When the bride, groom and photographer know each other, everyone should be at ease and focused on the events of the day.

Engagement Shoot

A popular wedding photography trend is sessions at an engagement party or intimate moments from a more private engagement celebration. This is a great way for the photographer to get acquainted with the couple, the bridal party and family.

Engagement photographs inevitably lead to more meaningful wedding photos as the photographer can see how the couple responds to the camera and how the camera responds to the couple and bridal party.

The bridal couple knows the engagement celebration is special. A lasting memory of the event will enhance your wedding album and makes for a great online announcement.

Interview Photographers

Selecting the right photographer is such an important decision. Brides and grooms should interview at least three photographers. The importance of this interview cannot be underestimated.

The budget is a big consideration but so is the chemistry. The couple should ask to see previous work and feel free to comment. The photographer will have questions and those questions may well indicate the photographer's wedding experience.

When the interview is over, the photographer that makes the couple most comfortable is the most likely candidate. As much as couples try to be objective, they usually have a preconceived preference. That favored candidate should probably be interviewed last. The photographers should know that the couple is interviewing other candidates. Some artists may reject the process, but stick with it. It is your wedding and the artist who is timid about interviews might be just as hesitant when the wedding day arrives.

Budget

Ah, was budget never a concern! The selection process would certainly be easier if budgets were not a necessary reality, but a bridal couple without a budget is a rarity.

Know your budget and discuss it with the photographer during the interview. Ask the photographer's opinion of your budget. Ask what limitations the budget presents and if there is any way around the limitations.

If budget is a problem, find a photographer who is comfortable with your budget. You might be surprised. These days, photographers are looking for work and if your budget is reasonable, a good photographer is out there.

Do not let budget stand in the way. If a photographer is begrudging about your allowance, move on. The unhappy artist produces unhappy results. If the chemistry is right, your wedding day will present an exciting possibility to the right photographer. Begin your wedding the right way and stick with your budget!
