Break fast is an important part of the meal. It provides your body essential protein and energy and helps you to have enough of energy till your lunch. It is useful to begin your body's metabolism in the morning. It is required by your child to concentrate and keep a good mood at school.

Working parents should learn to make simple yet interesting food or beverages. If your kid hesitates to drink milk, you can add his favourite squash concentrate such as strawberry or chocolate. It not only looks colourful but is tasty too and tempts them to drink it. Whole wheat bread with cheese slice or cucumber and tomato slices with sauce on top will tempt them. It offers a lot of fibre that is helpful for digestion and provides your body with enzymes that is needed to bring about every chemical reaction in your body. It also facilitates absorption of nutrients in your body.

Snacks choice should be appropriate in order to remain healthy. It is essential to have snacks in between your meals. Nuts, pea nuts, biscuits, sandwich with vegetables. Avoid high fat and calorie dense food for snacks. Just a handful of nuts is sufficient ...
... as excess is high fat and adds weight. Your kids tend to become obese with cola, aerated drinks and chocolates.

Home made pizza is good for snacks or break fast. You can make pizzas your self with low fat chicken, vegetables and cheese instead of buying burgers and pizzas from outside which are high fat. If you child hates to eat vegetables, try out vegetables in soup and add them in your sandwiches. They will definitely like soup and it increases their appetite too. Let them have it at least 1and a half hour before their meal. If it is had few minutes before the meal there are chances of skipping the meal itself. No dessert should be given before meals, allure them that it would be given soon after they finish their meals.

The urge to overeat is prevalent in some children. Thus, any diet that stops children from enjoying their food is more likely to fail. Parents need to teach their children to eat just enough for satisfaction. The best way to achieve this is by teaching them to eat slowly, from the beginning itself. Dieticians explain that it takes about 20mins for the stomach to signal the brain that you are feeling full, from the time food first enters the mouth. By eating slowly, children will eat just enough for satisfaction within this time. Developing good food habits is very essential right from when you are a kid.
