Insurance Investigation-do’s And Don’ts
Many Insurance companies and agencies hire insurance investigation to uncover the truth behind insurance claims that are made every day in large numbers. Insurance claim cannot be entertained without making enquiries or investigations about the same. By investigators, we not at all mean tall, dark men wearing long overcoats and hats investigating about a case, just like we have seen on-screen in movies like Sherlock Holmes. Though, these movies are quite entertaining, they do not reflect the day to day responsibilities of an investigator.
Many times, we watch movies where the investigators are ready to go to any extent for uncovering the truth. Many times, the methods adopted by them seem to be breaking laws. In actual setting, a private investigator is required to work within a set framework of legal rules and regulations. And, they have to follow the framework at all times. The evidence that has been obtained using unlawful or illegal methods cannot be used by them. If the investigator thinks that the person has something to hide, a search warrant can be obtained by a police officer to search the premises but this task ...
... cannot be done by a private insurance investigator. He does not have the authority to do so, thus they have to rely on other methods of obtaining information.
Retrieval of Data
A lot of time has to be spent by the private investigators in front of their computers. The major information is retrieved by them on computer and the same can be used for presenting evidence in a particular case. This kind of information is available in the digital format. For example, arrest records are also available online and the same can be accessed publicly. In the same way, information pertaining to criminal convictions or other run-ins with the law department is also available on the computer. Similarly, the investigator also makes use of social platforms as it helps him to understand and know more about the personal associations of the person. Many times, people falsify information on matters like claims for workers compensation on social media platforms as they never expect the investigators to look them on Twitter or Facebook. There are investigators who specialize in the task of data retrieval.
Surveillance
Surveillance work is also carried out by private investigators when required. As was the case above in the retrieval of data, this task also needs to be carried out well within the legal bounds. Many times, there are cases of employee theft. Employee Theft Investigation Cardiff carries out this task with great care as it is a delicate manner and needs to be handled with great care. Seasoned investigators take up these tasks and ensure that the truth comes to the light.
