A hard drive is a computer component or equipment that stores or holds the data on the computer. The operating system is stored in hard drive. All the computer needs atleast one hard drive to store its operating system, programs and user's data.

For transferring the data from one computer to antoher you just have to plug in the external hard drive to the computer from which you want to copy the data after plug in the hard drive you can easily copy the data and again plug in to the other computer in which you want to transfer the data.
It is very costly but it is cost efficient it has many uses .
