People living in today's world are living under the constant threat of a very large number of infectious diseases. If as it is not enough that these diseases are not easy to diagnose and treat, the infectious diseases of today are constantly adapting and are becoming resistant to the available treatments. Factors such as pollution and lack of proper hygiene, in many parts of the world, lead to the constant weakening of the immune system in a large number of people. Laboratories are constantly working to find cures for a number of diseases, but due to the high adaptability of many virus strains, lab scientists have to fight a constant battle for finding proper treatments. Another important factor in treating the various infectious diseases is finding the correct diagnosis. A proper diagnosis in conjunction with the correct antibodies and cytokines represent the solution for curing infectious diseases.

Cytokines are immune system proteins that are produced when our bodies encounters an immune stimulus. Once induced, cytokines help determine how the immune system should respond and to what degree. Each cytokine binds to ...
... a specific cell-surface receptor. Subsequent cascades of intracellular signalling then alter cell functions. Typically, a cytokine either acts in a paracrine manner to modulate the activity of surrounding cells, or in an autocrine fashion to affect the cell that produced it.

Since infectious diseases are constantly evolving and developing a resistance to current cures, medical scientists are constantly advising on the importance that an early correct diagnosis over the success rate of the treatment. We have our own defense system represented by antibodies and cytokines produced by our body, which act as a defensive system against outside threats such as bacteria, viruses, and more. However, each virus, disease and bacteria present in the world today require a different type of antibody and cytokine in order for us to win the battle against diseases. If our immune system is damaged in any way or is not able to produce antibodies and cytokines for a specific disease, we are no longer able to fight off diseases.

Cytokines are especially important for the treatment of diseases because cytokines improve the communication between cells. This good communication between the cells within our body leads to an increased and correct response from our immune system. Cytokines are secreted by cells into its immediate environment to communicate with other cells. Cytokines play an important role in the immune system because there is a lot of communication going on between different immune cells and their environment. Cytokines have a short half-life, which means they break down fairly quickly, and they're present in low concentrations. Cytokines can be further differentiated by their individual characteristics. Interestingly, cytokines are characterized by considerable "redundancy", in that many cytokines appear to share similar functions.

Cytokines are able to provide, along with a timely and correct diagnosis, a solid chance for recovery from infectious diseases and viruses. Because of the great results being offered by treatments that contain antibodies and cytokines, these two elements are considered to be, along with other important elements, the basis for the medicine of the future. An early and correct assessment of a disease along with right treatments can lead to curing any disease. The most common courses of action for fighting various diseases and infections, start with the diagnosis.
