6 Things That Physicians Assistants Do Everyday

You are now trying to choose a field of career to immerse yourself into and you have bumped into Physician's Assistant. I bet you must be wondering what you would do every day if you were to take this course. You do not want to take a course that will make you do things that you will not like or are not interested in. The list below will enlighten you on five things that PAs do every day.
1. Routine exams
The first moment that you step into your workplace, a hospital, school, college or any other organizations, the first thing you are required to do is routine physical exams for the school or employment.
2. Treat patients
You are allowed, within the established guidelines to treat and prescribe medications to your patients. If you find that there is a need for the patients to be referred to the hospital or any specialist, you should do that instead of trying to prescribe medications out of the established guidelines. You may get sued for that and it is another person's life we are talking about.
3. Evaluation
Evaluation of blood tests, X-rays and EKGs is also part of a PA's job. It is in ...
... the job scope whether you like it or not. You will be required to evaluate them and tell the doctor about the results obtained in a simple report.
4. Suture
Do you like to sew? You are also required to suture patients with minor cuts day in and day out. Although sewing and suture is quite different in a way that you do not have to stitch the string or wire too closely to one another depending on the position which requires suture.
5. Provide pre- and post-op care
Pre-op care and post-op care of the surgery patients is the job of the PA's. Charts review of doctor's post-op patients is also a part of the PA's job scope. This is to ensure the stability of the post-op patients in their health. This is also one of the routine jobs by the PA's.
6. Giving information
Giving information about contraceptives, diet and exercise program for those who required help is also included in the PA's job scope. If you like to give information to the patients to improve their health, this is also one of the aspects that you can consider.
Although PA programs are not as long as a MD, the job scope is almost similar and you get to do most of the doctors' work. It is one challenging profession and if you're up for the challenge, take it as an option.
