A Big Orange Bus
The rise in the popularity of air travel, driven in no small part by a plethora of low cost airlines, has seen a rapid increase in the number of international airports around the UK. It also means that you may have to travel across the country to get a flight, with only certain airports offering certain routes.
London, as ever, is right at the heart of Britain's air travel industry. With Heathrow recently expanding, and the likes of Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and City Airport all transporting more customers than ever before, for most people, their holiday starts dealing with London's transport network just to get to the airport.
Whilst there are Underground or overland rail transfers to each of the airports mentioned above, and there is always the option of a taxi, the EasyBus is undeniably the cheapest way to get to any of London's EasyJet airports: Gatwick, Stansted, and Luton.
Unfortunately, it is somewhat prone to the vagaries of London's transport, and it takes around an hour and a half to get from the Victoria Bus Station to Stansted airport, an hour to Gatwick from Fulham Road, and around an hour and ...
... twenty minutes from Victoria Bus Station to London Luton. This is around double the amount of time it takes on the train.
The flip side of the coin is that the cost of the bus is just a fraction of the price of the train ticket. If you book online in advance, an EasyBus ticket will cost you only £2 to get to the airport and another £2 to get back.
There is also the issue of convenience, if you can get to the bus stop with your luggage, after that you just have to sit back and let someone else get you to the airport. An hour and a half is a long time, but there is a fairly large portion of time in there that is purely in case of bad traffic, you do not have to worry about not getting to the airport on time.
A further advantage is that you don't have to be taking an EasyJet flight to get the EasyBus. Whilst they are owned by the same group, regardless of who you are flying with you will be able to get to the airport via the EasyBus.
Getting to the airport quickly is always important, but there is something to be said for letting someone else do all the work and not having to worry about negotiating a busy train station with a heavy suitcase. If you're heading out on holiday, it might be worth using EasyBus to get to the airport.
