Too Much Calcium Can Be A Problem
Too much calcium, especially due to calcium supplements, can cause major health problems including arthritis, gout, bone spurs, and kidney stones. As we will see, magnesium supplements like Natural Calm Magnesium can help deal with the excess calcium.
While our bodies need calcium to create bone mass, it also needs other ingredients with the top two being magnesium and vitamin D3. Our bones are two parts calcium and one part magnesium. Once your body has the calcium and magnesium it needs, the vitamin D3 then directs the body as to where to place the calcium and magnesium.
All magnesium supplements are not equal and if your magnesium supplement consists of a form called magnesium oxide, very little will be absorbed. Natural Calm Magnesium is a pH balanced magnesium citrate, in an ionic form that is highly absorbable to the body because it is a slightly acidic liquid. All minerals need to be in an acidic state to be absorbed by the body. Tablets and powders rely on the stomach acids and typically only absorb 30% of the magnesium. Natural Calm Magnesium is typically 80% absorbable when taken on an empty stomach. ...

Calcium without enough magnesium will cause that calcium to form calcium deposits. It could collect in the soft tissues and cause one type of arthritis, form a kidney stone or a bone spur. Many people experience excess calcium and osteoporosis as there is not sufficient magnesium to create bone mass. Magnesium supplements like Natural Calm Magnesium, taken in proper dosages can solve the problem of calcium deficiency, even if you don't take a calcium supplement.
In experiments reported in International Clinical Nutrition Review, a number of volunteers on a low-magnesium diet were given both vitamin D supplements and calcium supplements. All the subjects, which were magnesium-depleted, were given adequate calcium supplements. All but one became deficient in calcium. When they were given calcium intravenously, the level of calcium in their blood rose for the duration of the intravenous feeding. Once the intravenous calcium was stopped, the calcium levels in the blood dropped. However, when magnesium supplements were given, their magnesium levels rose and stabilized rapidly, and calcium levels also rose within a few days - although no additional calcium had been taken.
Dr. Guy Abraham, M.D. who is a research gynecologist and endocrinologist in premenstrual syndrome and osteoporosis, is one of many biochemists and doctors who advocate taking more magnesium to correct calcium-deficiency diseases. They have found that smaller amounts of calcium are better utilized than when calcium supplements are high.
Because you can take too much calcium, you need to be careful. Unless you have weak kidneys, you can't take too much magnesium as your body will eliminate the excess through your colon in the form of loose stools. We advocate taking Natural Calm Magnesium as your magnesium supplement and slowly increasing the amount until your bowels are comfortably loose, then you are at the optimal level.
