Exploding The Forex Myths. Part 1 - Introduction

This first in a series of articles, was prompted by appeals from ordinary people looking at Forex as a totally bewildering mass of conflicting information on the web.

To the average man or woman in the street, interested in this home based revolution, the mental check list can be frightening. Most newbies think; ‘complicated', ‘risky', and ‘beyond them' - but nothing could be further from the truth. In this series of articles we will dispel these myths completely and show that forex can be something for absolutely everyone, whatever their background.

One thing is for sure, some training and trading advice is a must, so first, lets talk about whether free online forex training and free online forex trading advice is available - and if it's worth while.

First, free online forex training and free online forex trading mean two completely different things.

Free online forex training means that you will be given information to help you understand how the whole thing works. Because the operative word in the phrase free online forex training is ‘free', does not necessarily mean that ...
... it is valueless. In fact some e-books and article explanations for beginners are excellent - and as there is no commitment with ‘free', it really is worth making this a good first starting point.

Free online forex trading, on the other hand, means a completely different thing. The operative word here is still ‘free', but there is no such thing as FREE online forex trading in reality. A demo trading account, often called ‘paper trading', with any number of free online forex trading brokers does not cost anything and there is absolutely no risk, as no real money is used. Indeed this kind of account is often called a ‘game' account as it's really playing at trading without money. The moment you want to trade for real, it's no longer free and the broker will take a small commission every time you trade. (Much more on this in future articles).

So to clarify and recap a little... we've learned that free online forex training, is genuinely free, it's online so very easily accessible. It won't teach you how to trade but it can be very useful in helping you to understand the basics of forex. Do a search in Google for ‘free online forex training' and you might be surprised what you come up with.

We also learned that free online forex trading isn't possible. The word free only applies, with almost all brokers, whilst you are demo (paper) trading for practice or to try out a strategy or two. The moment you move from a ‘demo' account to a ‘live' account, free online forex trading is definitely ruled out. Once again, searching on Google for, ‘free online forex trading' should bring up a host of sites for you to look at.

Like everything on the web, it pays to do due diligence and try and ensure that anything you subscribe to is genuine. It's always a good idea to look twice when dealing in cyberspace.
