I have expressed the opinion on many occasions that any property landlord who is still trying to manage a portfolio without landlord software is doing themselves a serious disservice. It appears to me in my daily interaction with landlords that most of them agree with me and would not dream of trying to run their business without property software. My first piece of advice for avoiding this happening to you is to make sure that the property management software that you choose is written by someone who has the necessary experience in the property management sector. If the person promoting the software cannot show you genuine proof of their long term involvement in property then steer clear of their product, you are likely to end up with something that causes more problems than it solves for you and who wants to pay good money to have their problems increased?

One of the ways you can make sure that the person standing behind the software is the genuine article is to see who recommends it. Recommendations from recognized sources will point you in the right direction. Some bodies to look out for are the National Landlord's Association NLA and the Residential Landlord's Association, these organizations have proven credentials that are easy to verify online. The NLA is one of the most eminent organizations in the property sector but there are others. A good idea is to search the net for the best independent organizations such as these and find out which property management software they recommend. It is hard to see how you could go wrong if a well respected property organization is willing to vouch for the property software you are looking at purchasing. Just make sure it is an independent group whose advice you are taking.
