Guidelines To Take Care Of The Battery Of Your Mobility Scooter

Amongst all the spare parts and accessories of the mobility scooters, batteries are considered to the most important. A mobility scooter without battery is like a bird without wings. So, make sure you buy it from the reputed store so as to confirm the quality products. Also, ask them about the warranty and guarantee before purchasing it.
Once you buy it, it is your responsibility to take care of them. Normally they last for a couple of years, but if you keep them in a good condition and maintain them, they can last even longer. So, it entirely depends upon your maintenance level.
There are a lot of points to be considered and remembered when it comes to taking care of the mobility batteries. So, let us go through some of the most effective guidelines for the taking care of the battery of the mobility scooter. Here we go...
1. One of the most important points to remember is that, it has to be used to its fullest before recharging it, at least when they are new. For example: Your battery capacity is 10 miles and you used it just 2 miles, you should not re charge it till you use it for 8 more miles. Re-charge ...
... it only once you use it up. However, you need not do this forever; but it is a good idea to do it a few times when it is new so as to get the most out of it in the longer run.
2. Do not charge it up in intervals. It is always advisable not to turn off the charging until it gets fully charged. Once it gets fully charged, you can plug it off and take it out wherever and whenever you want to. The best idea is to keep it on charging overnight, so that it can get re-charged fully till you wake up in the morning and then you can use it for during the day time till the battery gets over.
3. One of the most important tips is to use the correct charger. Using the incompatible one will damage the battery and it will lessen the life of the battery too. So, make sure you choose the right charger.
4. Do not overcharge it under any circumstances. For example: If you know that it gets fully charged in ten hours, make sure you disconnect it in ten hours. Keeping it connected even after it gets fully charged can harm the battery.
5. It is advisable to store it in the safe place when they are not in use; especially during the extreme temperatures. In addition to that, make sure they are dry; dampness can cause harm too. Also, it is advisable to keep the terminals greased for the best results.
Now that you are aware about the tips to maintain the mobile scooter batteries, it is advisable for you to take the utmost care of them in order to make it last for years to come. Good luck for that!
