Why Hasn't Christian Revival Come Yet?

Are you like me in that you're wondering why revival hasn't swept across the world yet?

Let me tell you why.

The Lord is waiting for me.

I'm the one holding back world-wide revival. Me. The Lord is waiting for me to change, and then He will release revival. He will change my family. My friends. My neighbors. My city. My province. My country. My hemisphere, and even my world.

But that's why revival hasn't come yet. He's waiting for me.

Now, that sounds egotistical, but to a certain degree it's true.

I believe that this great revival that we as Christians are waiting for is a lot more dependant on each one of us than we think.

Let me explain. Oftentimes, when I find myself praying for the Lord to bring revival to the world, my prayers are often based on the Lord changing everything around me. So much of the time, my prayers in this sense seem to have more of an external focus.

And this is good to pray about, and we need to pray for others around us and the world that we live in, but there is something that seems to bother me about these ...
... kinds of prayers.

It's not something huge - more of a subtle prompting.

But it is the idea that revival starts with me as an individual and that for me to see change in my city, my nation and world that I need to be changed first.

I believe that this big, radical change that we pray for and call revival has to start with each one of us as individuals first, where each of us grab hold of the fact that we need to be changed before the world around us will be changed.

If you and I were to truly enter into a personal revival - where our thoughts, actions, attitudes and desires are truly changed - it would begin to change things around us.

We need to actually make a change in our lives first - rather than just talking about what we need to do in order to change, or pointing our finger at the things around us that need to be different. We need to act. We need to actually follow after the Lord in word and deed, not just words alone.

When each of us begins to take responsibility for and action in our own lives, we will begin to see real change take place. When we do this, we will be in a place where we can actually reach out and help others around us - spreading the flame of revival.

But until we as individuals get our eyes off of what's wrong around us, and begin to ask the Lord to change us, we will never begin to see revival take place in our land.

Revival has to start somewhere - so why don't we have it start with me and you and spill over into our family, friends, city, region, country and world?
