Promotional products are a great tool that can be used to motivate them to continue to do business with you and keep aiming for the stars.

Plan a Special Event with Major Promotional Items

Consider hosting a large event like a golf outing, chili cook-off, local bay cruise, or other fun outing to show your clientele how important they are to you. An ideal event is one that they will both want to attend and enjoy. When inviting your associates, introduce some of the special prizes that will be given out to encourage them to come. For a golf tournament, these may include trophies for the best scores, award plaques, or even highly sought after gift cards or certificates.

Perhaps it's a quality tool set, or golf bag (or clubs), or even handsome luggage that makes their travel a little easier. You can then use this item as a motivator for more referrals from your existing clientele. For example, they may receive a t-shirt for one referral or a new set of golf clubs once they reach ten. Although these are more valuable incentives, both of you win-your client receives something of value to them, and you have a chance to grow your business.

Establish a Contest to Motivate Clients

Take a close look at the type of business you are in, and consider what your clients value the most when it comes to promotional items. This is an especially important step if you operate a brick-and-mortar business. Would they prefer a shopping trip that's on you? Or, maybe a new set of kitchen knives will do.

Set up some type of contest that clients can enter each time they do business with you, where their chances of winning special prize increases with each time they do business with you. This is a great way to keep them coming back for more, and they might even invite a few other colleagues or associates to take part, increasing your business base.

Encourage Potential Clients at Trade Shows

Using specific promotional items that are directly related to your unique niche market is a great way to make an impression at your next trade show. When you get the opportunity to speak to current clients and connect with future ones, leaving a lasting impression ensures your business will continue to flourish after the event is over. Tote bags filled with free samples, key chains, magnets, t-shirts, and the like can help remind them of your conversation and what you do each time they use it. Calendars are another great tool, as you can even print them with specific business dates and special events to encourage them to visit you in the upcoming weeks and months.

No matter which methods of motivating your clients and business associates you use, it's most important to take the time to consider the type of good or service you provide, as well as the desires and preferences of your target demographic. Feel free to be a little creative with the events and promotional items you choose, and you'll find that consistency will continue to drive new business to your doors.
