Manic Depression - One Of The Most Painful Types Of Depression

You are a great person; you have a wonderful family, great career, nice life. In other words you are a regular successful human being. However, unexplainably you find that you feel at the bottom of the world and wish you were dead. One moment you feel on the top of the world, and the next you are scrapping the bottom of the ocean. What is happening to you, you will wonder? Why are you swinging from high to low?

You Are Suffering From Manic Depression
This is a statment that can be as devastating to the sufferer as to the near and dear ones as well. Manic depression is an affliction that keeps you on a complete roller-coaster of feelings If for a period you are on the top of the world, the next period you will be totally suicidal. As a matter of fact this is the greatest of the manic depression patients - the threat that they would choose to commit suicide, and many times succeed at it.

You will need to learn to read the warning signs and act accordingly. When manic depression affected person is feeling high, you will find him/her bubbling with energy and positive feelings. Nothing can be wrong, nothing can ...
... go wrong; and if something does go wrong, then it can be handled. Everything is fine and the person feels just great.

On the other hand when the moods are on the reverse, the slightest trigger can have the person shut down totally. The person will feel totally sick, anxious, worthless, and guilty and he/she will be totally unable to apply any logic to the way he/she feels. Appetite will vanish, sleep will vanish and the manic depression patient will wonder why they are living at all. This is the time when they will become suicidal.

Manic depression unfortunately is incurable and people who suffer from it will have to deal with it throughout their life. Of course, medication and therapy help to a great extent as is the continuous and unstinted support of spouses, family and friends. However, do not be kidded about it. Manic depression is tough to handle and it will take a lot of courage and strength to keep yourself on the right track.

The good news is that it is possible. There are millions of people out there, who know they are suffering from manic depression and they are making the best of their lives with the right medication, meditation and therapy. The problem is when the person does not know they are suffering from this malady.
