A hand illustrated bird's eye view map gives the viewer a distinctive view of an area with the sense of the landscape viewed from a human perspective. An aerial view map displays an aerial view from an oblique angle to enhance areas of interest to the scene that is being viewed. These hand drawn maps include pictures that clients desire and exclude objects and information that is not relevant to the image that they want to portray.

Pictorial maps are not drawn to an exact scale but are drawn to enhance features in the landscape to be used as landmarks. Different scales are often combined into the artwork of the illustrated map to enhance the emotion that the client wants to convey about the area being mapped. The featured areas are emphasized while other less features are downplayed or excluded in their entirety.

Aerial view pictorial maps can evoke emotions that a client wants to promote about a certain area. They are widely used by cities, tourist attractions, business centers, and college campuses to promote tourism. Each pictorial bird's eye view map is a distinctive, useful, and attractive work of art ...
... that has the ability to generate excitement about an area.

These pictorial 3D maps were first designed in the 1600's by the early Dutch who would go to great lengths to get a bird's eye view of the area they were drawing. Many map artists would climb mountains and trees to achieve the unique perspective they needed to illustrate the aerial view maps of the day. These measures aren't needed today with the development of aerial photography but the same skill and effort is put in to the creation of a aerial view map.

Designing a 3D aerial view map is fairly simple on the client's part. Just a few things are needed which are comprised of a quality site plan that identifies buildings and focal points to be included in the illustrated map. Quality photos or drawings of the individual buildings and landmarks should be submitted to the designer of the map so that the important features can be highlighted in the artwork. The map illustrator will also use satellite photography and other methods available to create the map depending on the client's needs.

The hand illustrated bird's eye view map will then be created by software so that the map is editable and is ready to be used for any purpose that the client needs. Signs, prints, and web based projects are immediately available after the creation of the bird's eye view maps. Once all fees are paid the copyright to the aerial view map is the client's to use in the future for whatever reason they| |purpose they may need.

An aerial view map is a long term investment for a client because it can usually be edited as buildings are built or removed. Editing can also be done when particular points of interest in the map need to be shown to different groups. A beautifully illustrated 3D aerial view map will be able to be enjoyed for years to come.
