Information On Root Canal Treatment
Today the root canal treatment is the term that is constantly in the dental world. Your Houston Dentist may suggest a root canal be done for your decayed tooth which is beyond the stage of filling or whitening. How will you know that there is trouble shooting from a tooth, when it becomes very sensitive anything that is consumed which may be too hot or cold. There may be swelling and pain around the affected tooth. A bad taste in the mouth is also signs that signal tooth decay.
The outside of the tooth is called enamel; the inner one is called dentin, and the middle of the dentin is called pulp chamber. The narrow channel that houses the root is known as the root canal. The front teeth may have only one root canal whereas the back teeth may have more than one root canal.
Depending on the infected tooth and the area, the root canal treatment will have to be done for all the roots and you will have many sittings with your Houston Dentist before he actually salvages the tooth.
The decayed tooth will never heal on its own and can actually break down the working of your entire immune system and can at times also ...
... be life threatening. In days gone by your decayed tooth would have been removed but with the advancement made in technology and dental treatments, your Houston Dentist can help save your tooth with the root canal treatment.
When an abscess is formed and this is seen with the help of an x-ray a root canal is required as this is a bone loss in the jaw. This appears as a dark spot just below the beginning of the root. The problem should be detected earlier before it further deteriorates. Root canal treatment is the process of removing the nerves from roots of the tooth.
The process for the root canal is to first anesthetize the area, then the access point will be opened at the top or the biting part of the tooth. Next the areas to be worked on by the dentist will be noted for cleaning and filling the material. The filling material used in the root canal treatment is known as
gutta-percha. The canals are then sealed and the tooth is ready to be capped or crowned.
Again like any other restorative or filling procedure the tooth that has just had a root canal treatment will have a little discomfort and soreness around the area and this will ease with the passage of time. In case the discomfort persists then it is advisable to visit the dentist and check if the bacteria on the outside of the tooth is causing the discomfort. Some may need a little time to get back to normality whereas some other will need medication to set things back to shape.
Further to reduce the pain and swelling make a salt solution and rinse the mouth thrice a day. This will protect the tooth.
