Free Advertising Methods For Your Website/blog

If you have ever tried advertising your website or blog you probably know that it is really easy to blow a lot of money and not get a whole lot in return. Or maybe you are new to the online world and are looking for some great ways to build up your traffic. Whatever it may be, here are my top five free advertising methods (in no particular order).
#1. Article Advertising
If you have a website or blog, chances are that it contains articles that you have written. If you want to cash in on the work that you have done, then article marketing is perfect. There are TONS of article sites out there that will let you post your articles for free. Not only do article sites get high search engine rankings, but other surfers are free to post your articles on their site )so long as it remains unedited). This way your article will float around the web with your link attached.
#2. Make Your Site Search Engine Friendly
There are ways that you can make your site rank higher in the search engines automatically. Some of these techniques include creating relevant permalinks, using ALT tags, and sitemaps. If you have a ...
... blog these will be especially easy to do, and are usually built in with programs such as WordPress.
#3. RSS Feeds
RSS (Real Simple Syndication) feeds allows your visitors to sign up to the events on your website without registering for your newsletter. The feed creates a web page with links to all of your recent posts, visitors can register for this page and receive updates on your updates.
#4. Social Bookmarking SItes
Social bookmarking sites are websites which feature web pages of sites that users have bookmarked. The more bookmarks and clicks a site gets, the more popular it becomes. StumpleUpon.com is a great social bookmarking site to start with.
#5. Participate In Forums
There is probably a forum for every niche out there, so it shouldn't be hard to find out that suits your site. Once you have registered for the forum, you will need to be very careful of what you put in your posts. Most forums have very strict rules on what is allowed. If you break a rule chances are that you will get banned. So make sure to read the guidelines and follow them!
Those are my five favorite ways to gain free traffic. there are definitely tons more methods out there, so find the ones the best suit you!
