Know When To Replace Your Projector Lamp

When you have a digital projector, the time will come when you have to replace your lamp. While you might think that you will automatically know when it is time to replace your lamp, there will be times when you are not sure what is wrong with your projector, only to find out that your lamp needs to be replaced. In order to save yourself some time and trouble, familiarize yourself with some of the signs that you need to change your lamp.

A clicking sound is a good indication that the projector lamp needs to be replaced. After the clicking sound, if you notice that the light also will not come on, do not worry. Your projector is probably not broken. It should begin working again after you change the lamp. After you replace the lamp, it should start working again. If it does not, that is a sign of a more serious problem and you may have to take it in to get it serviced.

Another time that you might need to replace your lamp is when your picture quality begins to lessen. Over time, a lamp will begin to dim. Consider a light bulb in a standard lamp. After a light bulb goes out, do you notice how bright the new light bulb seems? That is because the bulb had dimmed over time. The same is true in your projector lamp. When you start to notice that the light is getting dim, go ahead and change your lamp.

If you like the idea of a proactive approach, you can also keep an eye on the counter on your projector. Each lamp comes with a number that tells how long it should last. If you start to near that number, you can go ahead and replace the lamp. You might replace the lamp a few hours sooner than needed but in the end, that does not matter to most people. Losing a few hours is much better than losing the lamp during a movie right before something major happens.

If you notice that your projector lamps do not last as long as they should, consider things that you might be doing to contribute to the early burnout. However, in most cases, you will find that your lamps last the length of time they are supposed to. Just keep an eye on them and you should not run into any problems. Change them as needed and check the counter to make sure that they are reaching the lifespan that they should.
