The Reformation Of Blink 182

It was in the year 1992 when Tom DeLong was thrown out of Poway High School in California. He had to visit Rancho Bernado High School where he made friends with Anne Hoppus. They used to hang out very often and so it happened that he met Anne's brother Mark who was a music fanatic. The two started jamming together in Marks garage and decided to officially found a punk band. Tom recruited a friend named Scott Raynor who he met at the High Schools "Battle of the Bands" competition. They named the band Duck Tape before changing it to Blink 182.
The band had they breakthrough with their second album Dude Ranch which was selling 1.5 million copies worldwide. In 1998 Scott Raynor had to leave the band due to an alcohol problem and the band recruited the drummer of their supporting band Aquabats Travis Barker.
What came after that is widely known. The band recorded three more studio albums until the year 2003 which earned them two European Music Awards, one MTV Video Music Award, one Nickelodeon Kid's choice award and four Teen Choice Awards. The band also received three nominations for MTV Video Music Awards that they ...
... didn't won. The group was also guest starring in TV-series like the Simpsons and in the movie American Pie.
The big crash came in 2005 when the band came in trouble because of DeLongs desire to take a half year off to spend time with family. Controversies about the bands future style and recordings did the rest and the band split in mid of February 2005. All band members started own projects after that; DeLong founded a band called Angels - Airways, Barkers and Hoppus new project was called 44. Both bands were quite successful and both debuted in the Top Ten of the Billboard charts with their first album releases.
The next big crash came three and a half years later when Travis Barker boarded a Learjet to return to California after playing a music event with former Jane's Addiction singer Perry Ferrel. The plane came off the runway, crashed through a fence, crossed a nearby street and smashed into an embankment and caught fire. Four People were killed. Two crew members, Travis Barkers personal assistant and his security guard. Barker and Goldstein were the only survivors. Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLong visited Travis in the hospital and soon after first rumors made the round that speculated about a reunion of the band.
It was on the 51st Grammy Awards ceremony where all three band members appeared on a stage together since December 2004 and with the words:" we used to play music together, and we decided to play music together again!" the band announced the comeback of Blink 182 on February 8th 2009.
