Finding a true ergonomic chair can actually be a serious problem for some people. The chair is something that any office worker is going to use for a majority of hours for a majority of work days every week. Sitting in a chair that doesn’t work for you properly can cause some pain over your body and make the workday seem to stretch on for endless, painful hours. As a result, buying a chair is an extremely important decision to make.

But in all truthfulness, there is no such thing as one universal ergonomic chair. This is because everyone is different and just because one chair may seem so comfortable for one person doesn’t mean it will for the person who sits next to them. But some factors in a chair that do affect everybody are how cushioned they are, how high they sit up, the height and width of the armrest, whether or not the chair can lean back or not, and so on.

In our culture today, we sit down to perform a wide variety of activities. We eat breakfast, lunch and dinner while sitting down, we drive while sitting down, we travel in buses and airplanes while sitting down, we learn in classrooms while sitting ...
... down, we watch TV and play most video games while sitting down, and a lot of our work is required for us to sit down as well.

But out of all the chairs that we do use to sit down in, undoubtedly the most important one is your work chair. Why? Because while watch TV, we’re so focused on what’s going on in the screen that we don’t pay attention to how comfortable the chair or the couch is. The same can be said for eating, for traveling, and sometimes, for classrooms.

But for most of us, work is necessary but not fun. It’s easy to get distracted, and it’s easy to pay more attention to the smaller things going on, such as noises in the office space and how comfortable the chair we sit in is. If we don’t have the comfort that we need while working, it hinders are work performance. Plus, the work chair is most likely the chair what we spend the most amount of time sitting down in. Thus, it is important to have an ergonomic chairs to sit in. But once again, there is no universal ergonomic chair. But there are ergonomic chairs out there that will work for you. The trick is finding them.

There are multiple factors that you’ll want to take into consideration as you choose the right chair for you. Your height and weight will play a large role in the chair you choose. If you are a tall and thinner person, you might want a higher chair that is easy to lean back. And if you’re a more round person, you might want a chair where the arm rests sit farther apart from each other.

Other things that you’ll need to look at in a chair for you is to make sure that the height of the chair can be adjusted (and then test it to see how high and how low it goes), if the backrest is adjustable, how cushiony the seats are, and if the chair is very stable when you sit in it.
