Nissan Altima Recognized As “most Affordable Midsize Sedan” For 2014

Cars.com has announced their list of “Most Affordable Midsize Sedans” and the 2014 Nissan Altima leads the pack. There were several factors used to determine this list including purchase price and overall estimated fuel consumption over five years. There also had to be some standard features that consumers have come to expect on family sedans including an automatic transmission, cruise control, a USB connection, Bluetooth technology, a backup camera, and power windows and driver’s seat. With a price below $24,000 and an average of 38 mpg on the highway the Altima easily beat out the competition.

The writers at TorqueNews.com agree with the findings, citing such additional features of the 2014 Altima as the Zero Gravity Seating and the Xtronic continuous variable transmission (CVT) providing a luxurious feel without the luxury price tag. There is also an Easy Fill Tire Alert that signals with a flash of the lights and sound of the horn when the correct pressure is achieved. Optional safety packages include a blind spot warning system and lane departure warning.

The Altima is Nissan's best-selling vehicle and is closing the gap with the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord on becoming the best-selling midsize sedan in the country. It is also one of the few remaining in its class to offer a V6 as an option. The V6 provides extra power while still maintaining good fuel economy at 31 mpg highway. Most car enthusiasts agree however that the 4 cylinder provides plenty of "get up and go", also delivering an estimated 38 mpg highway that provides the boost needed to make the 2014 Nissan Altima the most affordable.
