The products that become household names and super popular combine quality, value, great marketing and are entertaining or fun to use. Unfortunately, many companies are unsure of how to properly market their products and miss out on affordable and effective options like short form DRTV. Short form DRTV stands for direct response television that is just a short five minute or less infomercial. In a very short period of time marketers are able to sell a product and since the infomercial doesn't last long it's easier to keep the viewers' attention and make the sale pitch at the end. Long form DRTV is another option, but it is more expensive and much longer. Short form DRTV works really well for companies wanting to market their products to the masses at an affordable price.

Of course, while the idea of marketing to the masses sounds like a win-win situation there is something to keep in mind. That is that the product must have mass appeal or using short form DRTV to market won't be cost effective. Just because the masses see a product that doesn't mean they are going to buy it if it doesn't apply to their life. However, ...
... if the product really does have mass appeal then when the masses see a short form DRTV infomercial they are more likely to pick up the phone or log on to a website to check it out and make a purchase.

While each product must be weighed on its own merit and appeal there are certain products that usually do well in this type of advertising situation. The most popular products for advertising via short form DRTV include personal care products, ho9sewares, exercise equipment and programs, diets, and more. Any product that literally could be used by anybody is a great product for short form DRTV advertising.

Many products are niche specific and while they may ultimately sell successfully they are usually not worth selling via short form DRTV advertising. The reason why is that not enough sales will take place through short form DRTV to make the expense of it worthwhile. Of course, some niches can overcome this limitation and actually be successful with infomercials. One exception to the rule is golf simply because there are enough golfers willing to spend money on any product that could potentially help their game.

Advertising via short form DRTV is the most affordable method for most companies to advertise their products on television.

Short form DRTV advertisers have relied on A. Eicoff & Co. for their DRTV needs since 1959.
