Trench drain is a particular kind of floor drain that contains a dominant through or channel shaped body that is essentially used for a speedy evacuation of water on the surface. It is also used for containment of utility lines or chemical splits and these should not to be confused with other drainage products such as French drains or slot drains. French drains are used to evacuate ground water and slot drains are used to evacuate storm water.

Among drainage products, trench drains are of four types. They are cast-in-place, pre-cast concrete, liner systems and former systems. These four types of drainage products differ from each other on the basis of their forming or installation methods. The drainage products are of two categories which come as commercial trench drains and residential trench drains.

The commercial trench drains are those kinds of drainage systems that are used in and around the commercial establishments and the basic function of commercial Trench Drains is to remove surface water and contain liquids. These commercial trench drains are also called linear drain, line drain, channel drain ...
... or strip drain.

Residential trench drains are the drainage systems which are used in and around residential complexes or residential properties and the driveway drainage system is the most popularly used residential trench drain around a residence. Residential trench drains help us from eliminating molds which are caused due to continuous rains and flooding and also prevents from the house getting damaged due to the logged water.

Trench drains can have a customized solution to your unique design requirements for the project and it takes lot of labor to install the trench drain. The cost of installation also depends on the width of the grate that is used in the trench. However, trench drains are chemical resistant, fire retardants, heat resistant and rust free and are commonly used in most of the commercial establishments like airports, highways, manufacturing industries, marine terminals, auto dealers, fire stations, swimming pools, food processing units, docks, chemical storage plants, gas stations, commercial kitchens etc to evacuate water from the surface.

New trench drains have started appearing in the market which save a lot of time during installation and are also cost effective. The new trench drains are made of high density polyethylene (HDPE). This is considered to be a durable alternative to the concrete trench drain channels. The new HDPE trench pipes have a lot of benefits as there are no extra screws or clamps that would be required for installation as the integral joint locks prevent the movements of joints.

If you want to have a good water drainage system, then install a trench drains because these drain systems have a higher rate of water collection when compared with traditional drainage systems. For further information please visit http://www.dumooresystems.com/
