Computer is one of the most useful tools in today’s world and it has its importance in each and every sector. Today, without computer, no work is possible. The inclusion of computer into health sector has been an ever growing process and now it becomes a useful and mandatory tool in the treatment of patients. Practically, every aspect of the diagnosis process, in some way incorporates the help of computers from electronic medical records, medical imagery, and lab work and so on. In radiology, computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) is procedures in medicines that assist doctors in the interpretation of medical images. Implementing imaging techniques in X-ray, MRI, etc., CAD system helps to scan digital images. This system is usually confined to making conspicuous structures and sections. CAD will serve as a tool in what is called Evidence based clinical decision support.

Computer-aided diagnosis is a relatively juvenile interdisciplinary technology combining elements of artificial intelligence and digital image procession with radiological image processing. A distinctive application of CAD is the detection of a tumor. For instance, ...
... some health firm and hospitals use CAD to support preventive medical check-ups in mammography, the detection of polyps in the colon and lung cancer. With the CAD tool, combining all the relevant data to aid in the diagnosing process, there will no longer be a lack of co-ordination amongst all the relevant findings. All records of patients and clinical trials, journal articles play an important role in the diagnosing and treatment process. With the vast amount of knowledge we have today no signs and symptoms of diseases it is no longer viable to diagnose and treat a patient simply on the basis of symptoms they exhibit the day they are seen.

These days, computer aided diagnosis in medical imaging plays a great role in detection and diagnosis of numerous diseases. From anatomical information to the molecular and cellular expressions, medical imaging provides direct visualization means to see through the human body and observe the minute anatomical changes and biological processes characterized by different physical and biological parameters. Yet, because of various subjective factors and limited analysis time and tools, it is quite common that, different medical doctors may come up with various interpretations, leading to different diagnoses. Moreover, for the same set of medical imaging, a medical doctor may give different diagnosis results at different time.

The extracted features can now be integrated into a diagnosis by using a decision making algorithm, with choices that range from rule based models to the traditional statistical analysis to the more popular artificial intelligence techniques, such as neural networks and genetic algorithms. By the use of computer aided diagnosis in medical imaging, the input generation process is automated and for that it is reproducible and vigorous. Some of the techniques represent texture on the basis of the spectral properties of an image. Other is model based techniques that analyze texture by identifying an appropriate model, which reflects the prior knowledge about the type of images to be analyzed. There are textural features that describe local image statistics and other that describe global statistics.

Ethan Aldrin explains how computer aided diagnosis in medical imaging has revolutionized the way clinical analysis and medical intervention is carried out. He has found MedimSight cloud technologies very innovative since they are equipped with the most advanced computer-aided diagnosis methods and biomarker quantification system for top-quality medical images and reports that can be viewed, analyzed and shared from any location.
