Periodontal disease can range from a mild case of inflammation of the gums to bone loss and tooth decay. Most adults don’t fully understand how serious this disease can be.

Periodontal Disease

This disease, if left to progress will rot the teeth and need to be removed. Tooth implants and the All-on-4 implant are two of the best solutions to restoring proper oral care afterwards.

The bacteria in the mouth will combine with saliva and carbohydrate foods to form plaque. Plaque is what builds up and irritates the gums. At this stage it is only gingivitis and can be reversed with extra help from your dentist and tooth brush.

Without proper care periodontal disease will develop. The distinguishing factor from gingivitis to periodontal disease is the pockets formed by receding gum lines. These air pockets will become infected. The problem is that your immune system will be attacking bacteria while the plaque continues to spread.

This is the stage where the bone and connective tissue will breakdown as the body’s natural response. Since the body doesn’t regrow teeth dentists have developed many ...
... restorative techniques to get you back your beautiful smile.
Implants

There are single tooth implants for less serious cases but in the event of total tooth loss there is a procedure called All-on-4. Dr. Paulo Malo founded the company Malo Clinic and from there they have been the leading advancement in restorative technology.
Since Portugal is decently far away from Sun City it would seem more logical to find a dentist near you who has trained at their institution; so when looking for a doctor to implant your All-on-4 look for the credential of Malo Clinic training.

An All-on-4 implant will restore two full bridges worth of teeth in only 4 anchor sites. Until Malo Clinic developed this technology it usually required around 8 and it had a lower success rate. Now the success rate is close to 100% with longevity of 30 years or more.
Being toothless is not on many peoples list of wants so it is comforting to know that periodontal disease can’t stop you from having a new dazzling smile. Although it would be wise to save yourself the hassle and pain that it causes by visiting your dentist and brushing your teeth every day.
