There are different applications of sandblaster technology. At some places it is used to remove paint or other stains from the steel, glass or other metal floors and surfaces. And at other places it is used for roughing plain surfaces in order to draw any paint over it. Smooth surfaces don’t retain the paint as it is required; therefore roughening the surface is essential on such surfaces. Many of you might have heard about this technology but must be pretty unaware of the process which makes sure this technique works properly for you as well. Though this technology is used by experienced and trained professional in industrial setup, but sometimes it is used by home owners in their capacity.

If you need this service, you need to understand few things about it, so that you can supervise this process by yourself at your home.

Materials used in sandblaster technology

As the name suggests, many would not refrain away from guessing sand is the key material that is used for sandblaster technology. However, the fact is partially correct and in reality sand is very rarely used. There are various other materials ...
... that are used in sandblasting technique namely cooper or iron slag, which is collected after the smelting process. Apart from that one can use crushed glasses or glass beads, which are used widely for this technique. Other than that, rough material like crushed walnut or coconut shells can also be used in this process. Each of these materials has its own benefits and therefore is used for different purposes. Sand particularly is considered hazardous during process of sandblasting as it generates plenty of dust to settle down in your lungs and damage it over period of few years. These materials can also be used to remove paint from various types of surfaces.

Tools used in sandblaster technology

Sandblasting technology is done effectively with use of three main equipments, each having its own importance in this process,

Abrasive materials used with sandblaster machine: This component is used as the cleansing base for the surface and is applied with blaster nozzle that forces the particles on the surface which is being cleaned. Generally, proportionate amount of water is also released through blaster nozzle with these abrasive particles.

Blaster nozzle: This equipment is used to blow the particles with high pressure created by air compressor. It spreads the mixture of water and particle on the surface that is being cleaned. This equipment is particularly very useful to remove paint.

Air compressor: This is important equipment, which is used to create pressure in the machine. The generated pressure is the key factor of sandblaster cleaning technology. Higher pressure can ease the efforts of cleaning any surface.

Apart from these equipments a collector is provided in every sandblasting machine, which collects the excess dust created during the process.

In addition to these equipments professionals use some safety gears while operating with this machine. High pressure abrasive particles can fly and get into your eyes in the process damaging it. Hence, a respirator mask is highly recommended for professionals using this equipment.
