They say that the only constant thing in life is CHANGE! The positive change that is sweeping across the Nollywood industry has resulted in it being reckoned across the globe.

The world has become smaller by the advent of internet and technological growth and the Nigerian Film and Movie industry has also tapped into the vast opportunities, setting new boundaries and breaking it with new ideas and robust engagement. The once low cost industry that produced movies with home video camera and with little or no lighting gadgets, can now boast of world class movies made in collaboration with international movie makers (Bollywood and Nollywood alike), and are sporadically lining up to shoot the next internationally acclaimed movie.

Time, indeed, is a valuable tool and it goes to show that when the time is right, things sometimes naturally fall into place. The beauty of it all is that now you don't need to search so hard for Nigerian movies before you will locate them online. When you go on search engines to seek for Nigerian movies, as soon as you type NOLLYWOOD, millions of results are shown and you can choose from anyone ...
... that suits your inclination.

History:

It is not news that one young man started the initiative in 2012 when he noticed the dearth of Nigerian films online. Jason Njoku took the initiative and started an online platform that catered legally for Nigerian, Ghanians and African movies. Many Entrepreneurs saw the potentiality likewise and that began the gold rush for a market that rakes in not less than $240 million annually. Entrepreneurs like Ayo Animasaun and Olutayo Ade also run online platform that caters for Nigerian movies being shown online, sometimes for free, sometimes at a token.

Challenges:

According to Olutayo Ade, 'Nigerians in the diaspora (Europe and USA) tend to watch Nigerian movies more on the online platform than people back home. This can't be far fetched from the fact that internet service here in the country is quite bad and buffers for long and yet it is expensive to acquire'. Poor infrastructure, little or no power, poverty and disenfranchisement are agents militating against the frequent usage of the online platform to watch Nollywood movies in Nigeria and Africa.
The issue of piracy is also biting hard against the growth of more movies finding space on the online platform. Because of the stringent rules on line to curb piracy and plagiarism, Producers and Directors are demanding high fees for their movies knowing that Entrepreneurs are making even bigger profits through online platforms.

Prospects:

No one therefore can underestimate how big online platforms for Nigerian movies will grow. It has the potential to be biggest platform to market movies next to the physical cinema. The popular DVD/CD movies are fast fading away as the social media and even smartphones are being used to cart away films reduced in size.

Finally:

[http://tvnolly.com Nollywood movies] online platform has come to stay and we will see more online legal movie sites where one can get quality, recent, some FREE and some paid Nigerian and African movies that are specifically tailored for viewers pleasures, especially the ever growing market in the USA, UK and Europe
If power can be stable and internet cheaper, the traffic will soar even higher.
