Forklift wheels come in a variety of types, depending upon their uses. The most common types are pneumatic, solid and polyurethane. All have their own pros and cons.

Forklifts in Edinburgh are usually press on or standard. Press on wheels are easier to put on them, but they do not stand a good chance on the difficult outdoor terrains. (Those normal wheels can). Press on wheels are meant for electric forklifts or the ones that are designed for primarily indoor use.

The wheels of Pneumatic ones are very much similar to the wheels of a heavy duty truck. They are made of strong rubber that resists getting damaged, are filled with air, and have a thick deep tread. Pneumatic wheels increase the operating life of the vehicle by keeping an air cushion between the forklift and the terrain. That is the prime reason why rough forklifts use pneumatic wheels considering their durability and lifespan.

Another option to these pneumatic tyres in forklifts in Glasgow is the solid rubber tyres. They have the same specifications as the pneumatic tyres; the only thing being different is they are solid instead of being filled ...
... with air. Moreover, they also do not have an air cushion. Solid tyres might be very long lasing, but they do not increase the life span of the vehicles. They are not recommended for rough outdoor use; prove to be good for indoor or light outdoor use.

Polyurethane tyres usually are best for forklifts in Aberdeen. They are commonly pressed on the wheel; this is the most common way to apply a tyre. Because they have a low rolling resistance, they are great for indoor use; thus increasing their life span. They are also the most appropriate tyres used on electric forklifts.

Forklift tyres are meant to assist the forklift under all situations; for example, the tyres should support the forklift in a rough terrain or a plain indoor.

Factors to consider when choosing wheels:

Fuel and power consumption:

Use wheels that use less energy and have lower rolling resistance in your forklifts. This will reduce the fuel consumption by 10% and also have lower maintenance costs. Using the appropriate wheels for your forklift will also ensure extended battery lives and increased daily production levels.

Safety:

Choosing the appropriate tyre will increase the operator's safety. On the other hand, using damaged or poor quality tyres will put the safety of the operator, the goods being carried and the forklift itself in question.

Product Protection:

The product that the forklift is carrying is surely very costly and needs to be protected. The only thing that the forklift touches on the ground is its tyres. Consider tyres that offer shock absorption while experiencing jerks.

Shock and operator fatigue:

It is an interesting thing to note that the rubber on the tyres is the only thing that absorbs shock on the forklift truck! Faulty or poor quality tyres tend to increase operator fatigue; resulting in lower safety issues and less productivity.

Operating conditions:

The tyres of a forklift truck are constructed to suit the needs of the customer. Press on tyres provide better operator comfort and cushioning and load stability of the products; whereas the tread designs increase the productivity in wet, oily or abusive applications.

Avoid storing the tyres longer than few months. They have to be stored in a dark, cool, oil and dirt free atmosphere; away from active electric engines. To obtain the best results from your forklift tyres, keep good driving habits. Resist fast spinning, sudden starting or breaking movements. Noting such small points will increase your tyre life.
